About thermo-auricular therapy
Thermo-auricular therapy is designed to provide a pleasant and relaxing experience. The therapy focuses on the sinus system – your ears, nose and throat – in order to achieve complete comfort. The burning of the candle creates a light suction action, with the flame’s vibration aimed at massaging the eardrum. The therapy aims to remove impurities and is complemented by a light facial massage.

The thermo-auricular consultation

The consultation starts with a brief chat that focuses on what you want to achieve from the therapy. Once we’ve established your goals, we’ll ask you to lie down on your side in preparation for the therapy. A candle will then be lit and gently placed in your ear. Once the candle has burned down, it’ll be delicately removed. This process is repeated for the other ear.
The following complementary facial massage pays particular attention to the sinus areas for an all-round relaxing treatment.
Both sides of the therapy are provided at our refurbished centre and carried out by our resident thermo-auricular therapist Jo Spaczynska.
The history of the treatment
Thermo-auricular therapy is traditionally associated with the Hopi tribe of North America, although variations have been practised across other historical cultures, including the natives of the Siberian prairies.
The Hopi people were known for their harmony with nature and Mother Earth. Their culture, spirituality and advanced healing practices cemented that harmony. The Hopi ear candle was traditionally used to clean and harmonise an aura’s different energy fields to try and drive out negative energies in preparation for a trance state.
