Massage

Massage can be a powerful therapy to ease musculoskeletal problems and to restore a sense of wholeness and balance in the mind and body. The intensity of touch used can be light and gentle or deep and firm as desired.
Each of our experienced and skilled practitioners offers a unique type of massage. Please speak to the informed staff at reception about your preferred style of massage so that they can guide your choice of body work therapy.
At The Edinburgh Centre of Nutrition and Therapy, qualified practitioners offer the following types of massage:

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A MASSAGE APPOINTMENT

The practitioner will ask some basic health questions and ask about your preference of massage (ie. firm or light pressure). After this discussion, the practitioner will allow you privacy to undress. You will lie, face-down, on the massage table and cover yourself with a large blanket or towel. The room will be comfortably warm and dimly lit, with relaxing scented oils. The practitioner will ask permission to enter to assure maximum privacy. The massage will begin and the therapist will adapt to the needs and requests of the person. After the massage the therapist will leave the room and allow a short time for the individual to sit up, become fully wakeful and aware and then dress.
Appointment length includes time for assessment and for dressing. Although not mandatory, a 90-minute initial appointment is recommended to allow a thorough history taking, assessment and massage. Sessions can last from 60 to 120 minutes. Occasionally, 30 minute appointments are available. The preference of appointment length must be stated upon booking the appointment.
